Ship Reviews

It was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for my husband' parents, they had always wanted to do a European River cruise. We could not have been happier with the service provided by APT and the crew aboard the AmaReina. Prior to departure APt were a breeze to deal with, and we were able to purchase drastically discounted Business Class fares because of the cabins we booked. The travel documentation and travel packs from APT were great. Despite high waters we were able to make all our scheduled destinations by boat. The food was of good quality and it was a nice touch that the wines at lunch and dinner were always from the country we were travelling through. The tours and freedom of choice activities were also well planned and designed to make the most of your trip. Some drawbacks were that for the more independent travellers there was not enough free time in some of the ports. Also these cruises can become a breeding ground for germs. I think most of the guests came down with colds and flu. One more advantage was that even though we had a late flight on the last day we were able to stay on board until 2pm and APT had arranged airport transfers for us.

I’m half way through my river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. I wanted to post this review as it has been a sensationally crazy trip. Full of adventures, new experiences, food, culture, and a shit load of castles and churches. On the first day my shorts disappeared, however the due diligence of Nazare Mihai and an exhausted search for my shorts on the boat and with all the passengers they could not be found, sadly. As a resolution Narare provided free laundry and reimbursement for my shorts. Wow! What service hey! I would also like to mention the Captain Profiler Moscu who is a wealth of knowledge and gave us a tour of the bridge. He always makes time to answer our questions and is always so friendly. Our favourite at the moment is Barbara Bocz. She loves a cocktail, is a wealth of knowledge, honest, and a brilliant entertainer. We have seen so many beautiful places and had so many beautiful experiences. am looking forward to what next week will bring. If you a thinking about a river cruise make sure you book with ATP before they sell out. Nathan!

Normally we are independent travellers and this was the first trip organised by someone else . We chose APT because of the rave reviews from others who had chosen this way to travel. It exceeded our expectations. From the chocolate on the pillow each night, the rose for each female at the captain's welcome, the fantastic train trip to Salzburg, etc it was the most incredible experience experience. APT thought of everything - umbrellas in the wardrobe, more coat hangers than you could want (eat your heart out most luxury hotels!), all dietary tastes catered for, a variety of onboard activities and entertainment, a pool with a swim up bar etc etc. I think we were especially fortunate to have Roland Noordermeer as our cruise director as he was professional. knowledgeable, approachable, thoughtful, efficient and seemed to work 24/7. In fact, he really made the trip. After 7 days we had to change ships to the Ama Venita as there was a problem with a barge stuck upriver. That day went seamlessly. We had our luggage in the hallway at 7am. After breakfast we went by bus to Nuremberg where we spent the day, and on arrival back to our new ship, there was our luggage in our new cabin and the only difference seemed to be the different décor! All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. They spoke English well and with 146 passengers and 52 crew, there was a great ratio to cater for our needs. Apart from Roland, the main highlights were Salzburg and the train trip, Namedy Castle, The Strauss evening in Vienna and the glassblower. Would recommend to anyone.

This cruise exceeded our expectations. Staff courteous and friendly yet we all had lots of fun and laughs with them. Food 5 Star and service 5 Star. From 5 course dinners to dancing to ABBA all on board enjoyed their cruise. Due to to the organisational skills of our Cruise Director Daniela there was no waiting times in our off board experiences and all enjoyed her daily updates and her fantastic sense of humour. Our ports of call were interesting and varied cruising passing through beautifully amazing scenery. We were a group of 8 who enjoyed the company of everyone on board. A special mention to our Captain Janos, Charles, George, Cristian, George , Ivan, Danang and Daniela who is just amazing and works tirelessly to ensure a great trip for all. The staff on the Amareina are the reason why this cruise a lifetime memory. And a big thank you to all.
