Ship Reviews

We last cruised Holland 13 years ago and "promised "ourselves never again. So much for that promise. This cruise was wonderful.our cabin was a veranda and really nice.We splurged and bought Club Orange and were we happy with that decision. The only negative,170 people got norovirus. We thank God did not.The ship was so clean and every day ,all day it was cleaned. The staff in Club Orange especially Made,Monica,Yudi and Buda were wonderful.Remembered our names and our dietary likes and dislikes. The entertainment was different for us but we enjoyed. There were no big production numbers but several goof comedy acts and lounges with excellent music .Also movies with popcorn. We saw Conclave which is up for rewards this year.Getting on and off ship was easy with Club Orange help.It was expensive but so worth the cost. The specialty restaurants were good but so was the Lido and Dinning room which were included. No children on this cruise ,well one infant.

3rd cruise ever for wife and I and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We're active 70 some year olds and the oldest at the Orange Night Bar Hop event, so we can kick up our heels. Earlier that day we enjoyed the full experience at the Ocho Rios, Jamaica Blue Hole / Island Gully Falls, getting lots of photos and videos of us climbing up the river and leaping into blue water holes on the way down. Two artificial knees and one hip aren't slowing me down. Aruba, Cartagena, and Ocho Rios were our favorite ports. It was double fun in Cartagena, Columbia as we explored the town all day and in the evening watched "Romancing the Stone" with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner on our stateroom's TV. So nice that film was a selection among the many movies they offer for free. Anyway, the ship and crew were delightful and we enjoyed everything about the experience. Lots to keep us interested. However the Rotterdam didn't care much for cleaning the elevator carpets and that was somewhat shocking. On the Oosterdam in the Eastern Med last year those carpets were eye poppingly clean each new day.

The Rotterdam was a very nice cruise, but the activities and entertainment were lacking. We probably would give the cruise 4.5 stars. The real positives were the outstanding service by the crew and the ship itself was beautiful. The food and particularly the buffet were very good. The cabin accommodations were also very good. This was a very nice, classy cruise with a lot of positives. People shouldn't hesitate to book on this ship but there were a few negatives in our opinion. The activities on board were definitely lacking. This ship just didn't have the same kinds of games and activities as other ships. I'm sure it's because the age definitely skews older and they don't feel it's necessary. But after cruising on multiple cruise lines and twenty-five cruises, it was lacking in fun activities. The music venues were great but became redundant night after night especially on a 12 night cruise. The main theatre acts were just okay and getting seating was difficult with the size of the theatre. But I want to stress this was an outstanding cruise. The service was the best of any cruise we've been on. The food was very good. It just seems to cater to an older crowd.

Excellent choice for adult age group. Very few children on board. Clean modern ship. Dining quality was excellent. Lots of activities everyday. Veranda cabin on 8th fl. was typical cruise room but bathroom shower was larger than most. Service excellent . Casino was smoky. Entertainment was 5 out of 10. Nothing exciting..Lacks production. Jeff Niece comedian and Island Magic Pan musicians were excellent though. The Bb king blues club lounge entertainment was very good. Billboard Onboard Dueling pianos bar was very nice. Complimentary 24-hour room service Was very good. TV with On Demand movies Included. Itinerary for our sailing was the best I’ve sailed. Bonaire, 2 days in Aruba! And Half Moon Cay which is the most stunning private beach island stop with BBQ included. Must see powder fine white sand beach..swim and snorkel in crystal clear water. Had facial in Spa..was good. *Beware of atypical fee for bringing on wine. $20 per bottle they call it a corkage fee. NOT NICE! Also no plastic water bottles or soda can be brought on board.

Kids & Teens

Holland America Line's youth activities program, Kids Club, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.

Note: Kids Club is not offered on cruises of 25-days or longer, including all Legendary and Grand Voyages. We will offer a selection of children’s activities throughout these longer voyages for any children who may be onboard.

Safety Comes First

Safety is our primary concern and strict policies are in place for effective supervision. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.

Please note: During voyages with a high number of families onboard, we will make all efforts to accommodate interested parties. However, participation in our program cannot be guaranteed. Hours of operation may change to better serve our guests.
