Great Stirrup Cay, Your Own Private Island
Set sail for Bahamas & Florida and get ready for some fun in the sun! All of our Bahamas & Florida cruises feature a whole day visit to Great Stirrup Cay, an idyllic island paradise reserved only for our guests. Swim with dolphins, snorkel with exotic fish, or just stroll the white sand beaches. This eco-fun paradise offers something for everyone!
We approached this cruise with some trepidation, after cruising on the Getaway a month earlier which had a lot of issues and problems. Having reservations about the itinerary, cancelled ports and issues on previous cruises that had sailed this route we were in for a pleasant surprise. Our 7th NCL cruise, we loved the ship, the layout, capacity and the friendliest of staff. We went with an open mind, knew we were sailing the West coast of Africa and embraced every port and enjoyed the different climates, culture and people. Yes at times it was disorganised, dirty and no shiny new cruise terminals! We truly believe that NCL had learnt from previous cruises and there was more organisation at ports on their behalf. If some passengers followed instructions on shore days Im sure everything may have been more organised, At each port we did our own thing rather than pay the extortionate prices NCL charge for excursions. A big shout out to Carol the cruise director who we feel provided alot of great entertainment with perhaps a limited budget. We loved the crossing equator party on deck, and many of the individual bands and singers who were at the pool deck in the day and various bars at night. Leo was our favourite. There was a good choice of bars throughout the ship rarely any queues and lots of waiter service. We also enjoyed the outside areas on the Sky. Deck 6 was good for walking, and we enjoyed the 2 pools, numerous jacuzzis and seating areas on deck 11 and 12. We had a few little niggles, the Garden cafe was very small with limited food choice compared to other ships. The main restaurants food was great but never hot which was disappointing. Cheap plastic glasses were used in the pool areas rather than plastic wine, prosecco glasses. Lack of port information given to guests if not taking NCL tours. Badly behaved rude guests! Overall, it was one of our best cruises. Each port has given us memories to treasure as has the Sky and its wonderful staff.
