2nd time on the Bliss. Love the layout. Entertainment was great, food was just OK. Service was great overall. Only about 3/4 full so somethings like the observation lounge were ok to get seats in most days. Balcony cabin was perfect for us. Cagneys was outstanding, the Q was very blah. Local was good for eating as well. American Diner was ok but would not go back again. Better choices at local or buffet. Ate mostly in the buffet as most nights, the main dining room was not interesting to us. Did have some good meals there though when we did go. Did the 2nd airfare free. Will not do that again as flight itinerary was not good. 4 comedians but not great. Jersey Boys and Icons were the highlights. Beatle Experience was also good. Lots of Live music so appreciate that and it was good. Siglo was in the house. Upgrade as well and they were good as well as the Temperature Band.
Just off a nice 7-night Mexican Riviera cruise on the newly refurbished NCL Bliss. Overall, we were happy with most aspects of this trip. Given the time of year (Spring Break) it was a full boat, which we expected. The passenger age make up was varied....lots of retirees, but also families and mostly middle-aged folk. Embarkation in San Pedro was organized but crowded! Luggage pick up was seamless and there were plenty of porters on hand to assist. Once inside the terminal, it took 30-45 minutes to get through security and check in. Once we received the key cards, we were onboard within 5 minutes. Cabin - quite a nice cabin. We had a large balcony that had small chairs and table and also two sun lounge chairs. Beds were nice. Our cabin attendant, AQueen (her name) was wonderful. Luggage was delivered to our stateroom within 1 hour of port departure. The only drawback was that our balcony furniture was strapped down (captain's orders) and our steward needed to untie the furniture two days into the cruise. Bathroom was good size and the water pressure was great. Dining - the complimentary dining was a mixed bag. We took several meals in the MDR. We did not eat in the Manhattan room, only Taste and Savor. Lunch and Dinners were just ok...nothing remarkable. The service was slow in both these MDRs. Quality was not the best. Service in Taste was slow! The Garden Cafe (buffet) was only good at breakfast. Dinners here were bland and of little variety. The usual buffet options were found and the desserts resembled hospital food. The crepe station was nice as was the hand scooped ice cream. NCL should have better themed nights...most were "all American" fare like Turkey dinner and BBQ night. Where's the Italian, Mexican or French themed night? I did enjoy the Indian option...but the "Oriental" night (their words not mine) was not good. I am amazed with the behavior of people at the buffet. NCL makes great attempts to keep it sanitary, but it's hard when people touch the food with their paws and not utensils. GROSS! We tried the American diner on the Breakaway last summer, we did not like it, and the menu was identical aboard the Bliss, so we stayed clear. The Local was very good. We ate here multiple times for breakfast and dinner. Loads of options here and the service was very friendly and prompt. My only complaint is the Local's proximity to the Atrium, which is very loud with events taking place. At times, the events in the Atrium were SO loud, one had to shout at the waiters in order for them to hear your order...let alone trying to have a conversation with your traveling companions. Specialty dining was terrific. We ate at Cagney's and Teppanyaki. Both were the best meals during the entire trip. The food quality is superior at these restaurants. PS - Los Lobos was removed in during the January 2025 remodel and Cagney's was expanded to both sides of deck 8, so Cagney's essentially doubled in size. La Cucina is basically Olive Garden at Sea...so we avoided it. Q BBQ we heard lukewarm reviews from others. We did not try Palomar, the new Seafood restaurant (hint) "Ocean Blue" no longer exists. Food Republic looked very good, but we never tried it. Bars & lounges - these are all quite nice. Some better than others, depends entirely on your taste. The Whiskey bar was nice, as was the adjacent bar on the Waterfront. The Mojjito bar was nice, too. The Atrium bar gets too crowded and busy. NCL prides itself on the beverage packages and most of the passengers enjoy it....some a bit too much. I was amazed at the number of drunk middle-aged and retirement-aged folk...but hey, it's their vacation. When you consistently encounter those people shouting obscenities at the bar next to the kids pool...it's a little embarrassing. One area we enjoyed was the Waterfront covered promenade. This area on deck 8 wraps around the bulk of the ship with plenty of soft seating. It was great on those warm days. It can get a little chilly and windy on those sea days. Spice H2O was a nice area at times, except when the rowdy and drunk hot tub groups were there. It's a nice area on deck 17 in the aft portion of the ship. It's an adult's only area for the majority of the day. The bar staff were great overall. Entertainment was ok. We attended a performance of Jersey Boys. The cast was good and the show was of professional quality. We did not attend Icons, which is a new show in the Theater. Speaking of the Bilss Theater - they need to better utilize this space for daily games and trivia. I do not like that the Atrium was the only place that scheduled trivia, CruiseNext seminars and various talks/lectures. The atrium was prone to constant overcrowding. They should schedule more talks and trivia in the Theater. Beware of booking a cabin on deck 8 forward, as this area is adjacent to the Theater. In the evening, one could hear the constant thumping off the bass & drums coming from the shows in the Theater. Ports of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas were all terrific. Our favorites were PV and Mazatlan. One last item that I want to comment on - lack of elevators. The Breakaway class only has two banks of elevators (one forward, one aft). There is nothing mid ship. Several elevators are reserved for Haven guests, so this limits elevators. On a full sailing, it was impossible to go to your desired floor without having to stop (multiple times).
