Insignia

Both designer-inspired and luxurious, the 656-guest Insignia offers entirely new suites, staterooms and bathrooms along with a sweepingly re-inspired atmosphere throughout the ship. The public spaces have been tastefully refreshed with a soft sea and sky palette of fabrics, designer furnishings and custom light fixtures that exquisitely showcase the inimitable style and comfort of Oceania Cruises. Insignia features four unique, open-seating restaurants, the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Centre, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 333 luxurious suites and stylish staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas.

The better-than-new Insignia blends sophistication with a contemporary flair to create a casually elegant ambiance that embodies the most treasured elements of our celebrated ships. Every surface of every suite and stateroom is entirely new, while in the public spaces, a refreshed colour palette of soft sea and sky tones surrounds a tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures that exquisitely encompasses the inimitable style and comfort of Oceania Cruises.

Ship Reviews

We are very fond of Oceania's R-class ships and this was our second voyage on Insignia. The first was eight years prior, and those eight years are sure noticeable. The good: The food is very good. My problem with it is not the food itself but the marketing hype that makes anything less than absolute perfection a disappointment. "The finest cuisine at sea" it is not. Darn good, it is. But we've been on other ships that are at least its equal. The staff is just terrific. Our butler was amazing, our housekeepers were excellent and a delight, the staff in all the restaurants were all eager to please, knowledgeable, helpful, kind. The public areas all appear fresh and classy. The not-so-good: At least for us, our Vista Suite was a disappointment. It's spacious, comfortable, but is REALLY showing its age. It's desperately in need of more maintenance (leaks through the tracks of the forward-facing sliding doors to the veranda) and refurbishment (it's old and shows a lot of wear and tear.) Whether it gets that necessary attention or not is an open question -- we do not know if this is accurate, but were told by a seemingly good source that the ship is going to be scrapped in 2026, and if so the chance of refurbishing seems dim. I do hope that is not true, as all these smaller ships are a delight. Entertainment is something we can't comment on, although others are disappointed the smaller ships (understandably) don't have the same big production shows the larger ships do. We frankly don't give a rip, and if that's an important matter to prospective cruisers (as it is to a lot of people) the best advice I have is go to a larger ship. We'll happily take the smaller ones. On this cruise, we didn't take any of O's excursions, which we have in the past found to be vastly overpriced for what you get. Others did and were quite happy, so it's all personal taste and what you regard as value received. Years ago, O seemed to kick passengers who wanted to go ashore independently to the very rear of the line after all the excursion-buyers had disembarked. This cruise was much better in that regard, in both tendering and walking-off ports.

We just love Oceania and this itinerary. We are partial to the former Renaissance cruise lines ships, 8 in total, 4 now owned by Oceania and 4 by Azamara. They are less than 700 passengers and very intimate, allowing the crew to get to know you and also to meet lots of passengers. Love the food! Love the service! Loved our room! Entertainment is not as lavish as on larger ships, but not our priority. We so enjoy their itineraries and everything about our time on board. The stops in Canada are delightful and coming down the US coast is super! We had a Penthouse suite - first time. It had so much room and we were really delighted by all the space for storage, sitting and dining. We did room service on early excursion days!! Can’t wait to see what adventure is in store for us next!! We will be doing our 50th cruise next year and consider the cruises on these smaller ships among our favorites.

What kept this cruise from being an excellent undertaking was the difficulties with the internet service. The staff performed at an excellent level especial Sunil our cabin attendant. Getting on and off the ship at the various ports of call was extremely easy. This is our sixth cruise, the first on Oceania and it has been better than average but our cabin service has never equalled what we've experienced on this cruise. Entertainment was varied. Enjoyed the idea of having lectures related to the territory we traveled. Could have had more. Dining service came with wonderful attention to our needs and requests. I thought embarkation was much easier than it has ever been in the past and this was certainly appreciated. The numerous variety of locales to rest, grad a snack, listen to music, play cards and just relax was a treat. The crew outside the dining areas who assisted us on and off the ship or tenders were very helpful.
