Family friendly - There’s always something happening on Ventura, enjoy delicious fine dining, a tranquil spa, many quiet spaces to unwind, great sports facilities and four pools. Evenings are particularly memorable, with the lavish two-deck theatre where you’ll witness elaborate shows and stand-up comedy.
Remember, you’ll be in amongst 3000 passengers , too many with no manners and no concept of “exit only” at the buffet which had the best food but very very busy, best to sit back and wait till it quietens down- if you can find a seat.if you must use up your on-board spend, the Epicurean is an experience…for the service, not the food. Music was horrendous and constant; having lost the will to live by day 3 there was little to do but drink or attend yet another quiz. Every single member of staff was hard-working, pleasant, with a ready smile, dealing with some obnoxious people in a calm, dignified manner. There must surely be some activities that can be thought up to pass some time especially for the elderly and disabled who were in the majority. The Oasis pool has a sign stating “12 maximum” - there were 22 including a group of older women who stood talking for a good hour while we sat waiting for some space.
Anyone on their first cruise may have been disappointed, due to bad weather and high seas the ship was forced to change the itinerary rather than force passengers to endure a very rough time. One port was missed with an extra day at sea, and a second cancelled due to no berth available after being informed by the port that the ship could go there. There was a rather miserly voucher for a free drink, a small glass of house wine. There are 4 seating areas in the buffet and whilst it gets busy, often sharing is the answer, and the opportunity to chat with other friendly guests. The entertainment is repeated throughout the evening, with shows from 7.30 till late and drinks can ordered from the seating and tables with a prompt service within a few minutes from numerous hard working staff. The cabins are a conventional size, and the Superior Deluxe has a seating area and two TV`s of a reasonable size. The cruise was considerably disrupted, but you can`t blame P&O for the weather.

All cabins are air-conditioned and well designed, to give you as much space as possible and to help you relax into your surroundings. Many feature balconies to give you additional outside space. All feature Egyptian cotton sheets, free tea & coffee making facilities, refrigerator, hairdryer, safe, in-cabin television and good sized en-suite bathrooms with toiletries pack. You will also enjoy the services of a personal cabin steward who will look after your every need, and can enjoy room service from early morning until late evening at no extra cost.
Enjoy three main restaurants offering a choice of Club Dining - the same table at the same time each evening - or Freedom Dining with no fixed seating or dining times.
There’s also the opportunity to visit the Select Dining venues of Sindhu, the first restaurant at sea from master of spices Atul Kochhar; The Epicurean, where a sense of occasion is always on the menu; and The Glass House, a wine bar and restaurant created in partnership with award-winning wine guru Olly Smith.
The ship's fantastic New Horizons programme offers to passengers the chance to leave their cruise with a new hobby, skill or passion. With classes ranging from cookery, and ballroom dancing, to feng shui and tai chi, passengers can search for true enlightenment.
