Ship Reviews

It's been 3 years since our last cruise. We booked this a year in advance, as we really wanted to do the 14 day circle caribbean itinerary. We booked an inside cabin with plus, as we didnt have the budget for a balcony this trip. However the Princess upgrade program came through for us and we ended up in a obstructed view balcony for a very small additional charge. embarking was smooth as silk, half an hour after arriving at port we were on deck having a bevvy. Our room: great, clean, lots of space for our stuff. the balcony is minimally obstructed and didnt affect our enjoyment. The balcony is tiny ( we've had a deluxe balcony before) but for the little bit we paid, a massive upgrade over an inside cabin. Public areas: Well maintained, well organized. Although our cruise was very full it didnt feel that way. Never had to line up or wait on crowds of people. Pools: I like the main outdoor pool, but prefer designs with 2 outdoor pools so we can hang out at the quiet one away from the jumbotron. not a huge fan of indoor pools as the whole area smells of chlorine. Food: we did standard late seating. diningroom was half empty. waiters were great, very attentive. Food was improved over previous cruises. Meats properly cooked. Everything seasoned well. We also went to the winemakers dinner, the tuscan lunch and the catch by Rudi. Those were top tier. perfectly cooked lamb chops, and sea bass at rudi's was possibly the best fish I've ever eaten. Entertainment: The usual mix of comediens, magicians and vocalists But the production shows were way better then any previous cruise we've done. Drones, lighted costumes, live streaming. cool modern stuff you see on tv, but ln person. the entertainment cast was strong, both singing and dancing. A real surprise highlight of our cruise. Itinerary: circle caribbean lived up to its billing - 3 stops we'd never seen before (Aruba, Curacao, Trinidad), and some of our previous favorites. 8 ports in, all winners. Bottom line: best cruise ever!

We had an excellent 21-day trans-Atlantic cruise, finishing in Rome. We were pleasantly surprised that a crossing in February was so warm, sunny, and smooth. Embarkation was seamless and our cabin was ready at 11 AM. Our steward, Jefferson, took very good care of us for the entire time. He addressed us by name from the very first day and worked hard to keep the stateroom clean. The couch looked a little worn and the mattress had deep dips from previous guests. We found the duvet on the bed to be too hot but our steward replaced it with a blanket. The thermostat worked well to adjust the room temperature. We were very impressed with the destination expert, Jessica Potter, who gave very comprehensive and enthusiastic overviews of each port, including ship’s tour options or do-it-yourself options. There were 2 additional enrichment speakers on board – one for the Florida to Barcelona segment and one for the Barcelona to Rome segment. The lectures were all posted to the stateroom TV, in case you missed one or wanted to review the information. We absolutely loved the dance band, “Gemstone Quartet.” They played a great variety of excellent ballroom music. The times for dancing often conflicted with the times for the evening show so we skipped the shows in order to enjoy the dancing. Wifi was good throughout the cruise and we were easily able to switch from one device to another. Staff on board were all very friendly and helpful. Staff at the Excursion desk were helpful in booking an excursion in Gibraltar. A drawback of the Princess software is that you cannot book or see any information about excursions on the second half of a back-to-back cruise while you are on the first leg. Each week, we received a survey asking for feedback on the trip so far. It was always difficult to find a seat in the Piazza as many daytime activities occur there and people just stay on from one to the next. The buffet was a place you could easily get lost in. Seating was difficult to find at lunch time. Generally, servers were prompt to bring water, juice, and drinks. It was great that staff at entrances to the buffet were encouraging hand-washing. We always used hand sanitizer after handling serving utensils or handling menus. Our experience in the Allegro dining room was excellent. Our waiters for the trip, Jokie & Sagita, were friendly and efficient. Menu items did not always appeal but overall, the food was good. We did not try any of the specialty restaurants. We only saw 2 of the production shows as you had to arrive at least an hour prior to the show in order to get a decent seat. There were poor sight-lines from the sides of the theatre and in one case, the panels on the stage completely blocked our view. The cast members were talented singers & dancers. Costumes were very elaborate. We found the sound volume to be too loud, even while waiting for the show to start. It was too loud to be able to concentrate on reading. It was a bit awkward to have 2 of the formal nights on port days, especially when “all aboard” was 6:30 PM. We really appreciated having a do-it-yourself laundry on board. All machines on the 12th floor were working well although the machine to get tokens was broken. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to sail on Majestic Princess again.

I would cruise on Majestic again. The enclosed Hollywood pool and spa room on deck 17 is comfortable and relaxing. It does not have adult only signs, but should. Pros-Daley Guest Led Christian Bible study and church service on Sunday. Buffet was great! Large variety of foods. The best cinnamon rolls and healthy smoothies each morning. Crew friendly. Token laundromat with irons on each floor. Fast embarkation. Con-Ship layout poor, many halls lead to dead ends. Daley Patter mainly has sales driven activities written in it. You must be on App or check electronic wall screens to find out all activities. Morning hot chocolate must be ladled out of a soup container. Free pizza only in buffet, $15 from pizzeria. No chocolate treat in room before bed. Shows in theater fair. Music playing in buffet was for much younger age group than what was on board. Buffet offerings were much more enticing than the dining room menu.

This was an outstanding 14-day cruise circling the Caribbean visiting some of our favorite ports of call and a new one in Trinidad and Tobago. This was the first time we had ever seen this itinerary. After 2 sea days, we had 6 days of port calls starting at St Maarten, then St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago ending at Grenada before our next sea day. Then came two more port calls at Curacao and Aruba. Then 2 sea days back to Port Everglades. A sea day between day 3 and 4 to break the chain would have been nice. Overall, it was a great cruise itinerary. We hope to see it offered again in the future. After this cruise, Majestic Princess sailed trans-Atlantic to Barcelona then to Rome. After Rome, it sailed to Palermo for a 4-week dry dock. She will receive a needed update. Harmony will become Sabatini's, and the Asian signage will be removed. We are Princess Elite and bought the Premier Package. We enjoy aft, mini suite cabins usually on Emerald deck. Our cabin steward was a very experienced old hand who took great care of us. Our big complaint is the electric outlets or lack of. Plus, there are only a few USB outlets. We bring adapters to get a few more places to plug in our US plugs. We had a few plugged toilet issues that were quickly resolved. Our main dining room option was the nightly reservation room Allegro, aft deck 6. The first night was a hot mess with an exceptionally lengthy line causing a 30 min delay with a reservation! All our other nights were fine. We went to Crown Grill the first night and were seated promptly. In the Allegro dining room, we had a great waiter, and his assistant was excellent also. Once we find a good wait team, we stick with them. Each night we were able sit in their area with no trouble. We enjoyed all 3 specialty dining rooms (7 times) with little problems making reservations before the cruise. My favorite was the Crown Grill. The entertainment on this ship was excellent. The theater shows were incredible. We got to know several of the dancers as they assisted in other areas like the Park West art auctions and the medallion sales/computer help. There was a wide variety of other nightly entertainment offerings. We enjoyed the bar area next to Crown Grill as the variety of music each night made diner even more enjoyable. We enjoyed the BINGO sessions, but we were saddened to see Fortuna Luck has been eliminated. She was very entertaining on our previous cruises. Now the cruise director staff rotates through. Some were good with the BINGO lingo; others just called the ball. We had a great free Elite grapevine wine seminar, and my wife enjoyed the afternoon teas. We have been doing art auctions since it was Princess Fine Art, now Park West. At first, it was for the free Champagne. Trent and Georgia were the team leaders this cruise leading awesome art seminars and well-paced auctions. One such seminar, we learned of the Disney/Salvadore Dali collaborative work from 1945. Due to a lack of money due to WWII, it was not finished until the 2000's, in a short, called "Destino". Very cool Dali art. The Dali plates are now sold as limited-edition art. We usually find some excellent buys at the auctions on our cruises. Shore excursions. In St Kitts our scenic train excursion was canceled on us 3 days before the port call due to a derailment. We found an excursion to Nevis with a tour and beach time. It turned out to be a hidden gem. The tour guide was a big fan of native son Alexander Hamilton and provided us an excellent tour. Great local tour followed by lunch and beach time. Our new port call was Trinidad and Tobago. Per our tour guide, this is a seldom visited cruise port due to its location. Our tour visited the Royal botanic garden and a Monastery. We had some great views from the drive between the two stops. We were pleasantly surprised by this port of call and our tour. Embarkation had very long lines as we arrived at noon. Once the TSA style screening was done, the process went much quicker. For previous Princess cruisers, we bypass the old check-in counter and have quick and easier check-in with a customer rep with an iPad. Many of us would like to see the return of Elite/Suite Lane for screening. Disembarkation was fairly painless at Port Everglades. It seems each year they are getting better at this. We live in Central Florida and drive home, so we are in no hurry to leave. We enjoy one last casual breakfast in the dining room before disembarking at 9:15 am. We find fewer bags to look through to find ours. We always get a porter as they are great for knowing the ropes for getting through the customs drill.

This was a great cruise with an awesome Itinerary. All of the stops were beautiful no repeats and no Princess Cays which was the main reason I picked it. Trinadad However remained a port of call even though the Canadian gov't gave an advisory not to visit this port. British people whom we met on this ship also had an advisory from their govt., due to violence etc. This gave me pause about Princess and why they would not change this port. I really want the cruise line I choose to consider our safety. Embarkation and Disembarkation was the fasted I have experienced. It seems each year they are getting better at this. The main dining Concerto where we ate most nights was a mixed bag. Some nights the food was delicious and others it was very bad. It was probably the worst prime rib and lobster I have ever had. This also goes for the service. Twice at dinner I ordered a diet Coke, the first night it came while eating dessert and the second night it never arrived at all. Anyway, in the big scheme of things this is small stuff. I didn't go hungry. The entertainment on this ship was very good. The ship was kept very clean. Our Balcony cabin was well serviced. I have to give a shout out to Alfredo's Pizza. ...It was the best Pizza I have ever had and was worth of a second visit.
