We've cruised on Symphony of the Seas before so it's almost like coming back home. The staff as always was fantastic. Great service! Great smiles! Great attitudes! The 4 in our family had a wonderful time. As always, it's never long enough and on the last day it's mixed emotions.... usually depressed that we have to leave the ship. Our excursions were fun, the food was tremendous, and we all relaxed and would rate this a 5 star cruise. Can't wait until our next cruise which will make us Diamond Club Honors Members. Although we were unable to dock at some of the planned ports we still had a really great time staying on the ship or being diverted to other ports. The only thing I would suggest is that I wish our mattress had a softer mattress topper and our cabin maid was kind enough to bring us softer pillows. Excited for our next cruise!!
We recently took a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the incredible Symphony of the Seas, and let me tell you—this experience turned my husband and me into lifelong cruisers! Not only are we already planning our next voyage, but this trip also restored my faith in customer service. From the moment we stepped on board, the service was exceptional. We were warmly greeted and immediately made our way to a bar, where the bartender set the tone for the entire cruise—friendly, welcoming, and ready to make our vacation unforgettable. One of the standout highlights was our room attendant. We had a few special requests right from the start, and not only did he accommodate them with a smile, but he also kept our room spotless and was a joy to see every day. The dining room staff was equally impressive. Every night, our servers remembered our names, asked about our day, and gave us tips on what to look forward to the next day. If we needed anything, they were on it instantly. The bartenders all over the ship were just as fantastic—quick, friendly, and even making rounds on the pool deck to ensure we were taken care of. As for food, it was great! Whether we dined in the main dining room, the buffet, or the specialty options included in our package, everything was fresh and delicious. The only minor downside was that the buffet was always busy, but with so many other dining options, it wasn’t a problem. Similarly, the pools were quite crowded on sea days, which was expected. We found a peaceful escape in the Solarium, a great spot for adults looking to unwind. One experience I’d likely skip next time is the spa. While our massages were wonderful, the sales pitch before and after was a bit pushy. Just something to be aware of if you book a treatment. Overall, there was never a dull moment on this ship! Whether you're looking for relaxation or adventure, Symphony of the Seas delivers. If you’re on the fence about booking—just do it! You won’t be disappointed!
Background Information This was my 2nd Royal Caribbean cruise and my husband's 3rd (35th overall for me, 36th overall for my husband). We just sailed sister ship Wonder of the Seas in June 2024 and hadn't really planned on returning to an Oasis class ship quite so soon. But friends of ours were doing a group cruise (Radio Ronin Caribbean Invasion 2025) and asked us to join them. Travel to Embarkation Port We flew into Ft. Lauderdale two days early and took the airport shuttle to our hotel for a one night stay. The next day, we took Lyft down to the Miami pre-cruise group hotel for another one night stay. Day 1 - Miami Embarkation Used group bus arranged to transport from Element hotel to get to Terminal A. We arrived about 9:30am - which put us right in the throngs of disembarkation passengers so it was pretty chaotic outside the terminal. Terminal doors didn’t open until 10:00 am. Check-in/ security complete by 10:20am. Onboard by 10:45am. So as usual per our past cruising experiences, boarding groups are not enforced (we had 12-12:30). Couldn’t go directly to cabin to drop off hand luggage. However, cabins were available at 1pm but unlike with our Wonder cruise, luggage was not already delivered into our stateroom. Luggage did not actually arrive until 4:15pm - worst delay we’ve ever had on a cruise. Sailaway was at 5pm. Cabin Our Central Park View balcony cabin -Cabin décor & size - 182sqft. Color scheme was very modern neutral - light wood color, beige and blue colors. -Cabin location & proximity to ship features - Our cabin was forward of mid-ship on the starboard side on Deck 10. Being a CP balcony meant it was very convenient for the Central Park venues on Deck 8. After our Wonder cruise, we thought it would be nice to have a CP balcony to enjoy the evening live music and nature setting - during a more pleasant time of year for Caribbean sailing. It did not disappoint. Cabin steward was Shern. Cabin features: - Comfortable king bed with plush linens - Sitting area with sofa - Desk and chair with a large round mirror above the desk and a wall-mounted shelf below the mirror. Desk had 2 European power outlets, 3 US power outlets, and 2 USB ports (A). - Next to the desk was a storage unit with 5 drawers and the mini fridge. - Suitcases fit under the bed. Each side of the bed had a nightstand with one shelf and a lamp. Only 1 side of the bed had 1 US power outlet. Wonder rectified the lack of bedside outlets/USB ports. - Two closets on either side of the nightstands. Left side closet had 5 shelves plus the safe, two bottom drawers, and a side full-length hanging. Right side closet had upper and lower hanging. This cabin category does not provide bathrobes. - Bathroom was well designed with a large round glass door shower (no tub) and plenty of storage with three shelves, a large vanity along the side of the sink, and under the sink. - There was one mounted hook outside the bathroom. - Interactive large flat screen TV - didn't really explore what kind of movie selection there was - usual limited selection of live TV channels. - Balcony had two chairs and a table. One thing we discovered was that the chairs were zip tied into the reclining position. Did some online research and learned that RC was hit with a $5.6M judgment last year because a woman hit her head on the glass door. They're apparently replacing the chairs fleet wide, but as a stopgap they zip tied the chair into whatever position they were in - so some are in upright and some are in reclining. So dumb. Ship Information Ship stats provided by the Promenade scrolling factoids - Maximum passenger capacity is 6680 with 2200 crew. We were sailing with 6680 passengers, so 100% full. John Grantham was our cruise director. We saw him more around the ship than we saw the CD on Wonder. He's on the older side for CDs these days but he has a fascinating background as a former movie stuntman. Very few differences from Wonder in terms of layout/venues. Symphony has Jamie's Italian Kitchen whereas Wonder has Giovanni's. Symphony has the Vintages Wine Bar but Wonder has The Lime and Coconut and Cantina Fresca. Wonder has additional specialty restaurant The Mason Jar. Wonder's Windjammer is larger and located on deck 15. Internet - We each had 1 day internet package as part of our Diamond level status. Pre-cruise, we upgraded one to the Voom Surf & Stream package for $147, and then once onboard we added a 2nd device for $122. Speed/reliability was very good as Symphony is on Starlink. iMessage does not work even if not connected to Internet (sometimes we find it does work on other ships). RC app - Pretty much identical to the Celebrity app - Worked well overall with the ability to flag activities and events of interest. App was great about sending reminders for upcoming flagged events. Ship time vs shore time - Although St. Thomas and Saint Maarten were 1 hr ahead time zone we did not change time on the ship. Not sure why we didn’t as usually we change clocks on the ship on other cruises. Activities Enjoyed sailaway from outside decks. Entertainment Listened to piano entertainer Adrienn Orban in Schooner Bar. Listened to guitar entertainer Jamie Ferguson in Copper & Kettle Pub. Dining Lunch - Solarium Bistro - Rumored embarkation day seafood was legitimate - featured items included chilled lobster tails, crab claws, grilled shrimp, shrimp cocktail, ceviche, salmon & tuna tartares Dinner/Dessert - Windjammer Marketplace (Theme: All-American Classics) Day 2 - Perfect Day at Coco Cay 7am-4pm Activities Got off the ship around 8:30am. For this visit, we decided to spring for Coco Beach Club day passes - we bought them pre-cruise during Black Friday sale and paid $114pp. Amenities - Hammocks on the beach, plenty of shaded lounge chairs, plush beach towels, infinity pool, float mats. Food - On embarkation day, we tried to reserve 11:30am for our lunch dining time but were never able to get thru on the 7000 dining line. So we had to reserve upon arrival and we got 11:15 which was fine. Our server was Tamika. Lunch includes all the starters (hummus, shrimp cocktail, baba ghanoush spread, ceviche, and tzatziki), entrees (I had the broiled lobster and Scott had the Coco lobster sandwich), and dessert (we both had the Bahamian rum soaked cake). Delicious lunch! Impact of two ships in port: Oasis of the Seas was also here. We didn’t really notice any impact being in the beach club. Didn’t seem overly crowded. We headed back to the ship around 3pm. Entertainment Listened to guitarist Maryna Zhuravlova in Central Park. Listened to ensemble High C’s Horns in Central Park. Saw Hairspray production show which is exclusive to Symphony. We've seen this Broadway musical before on land but it'd been a few years. Description: "Mix big hair, big dreams and all the right moves and you've got one of the biggest Broadway hits of our time - Hairspray. Winner of eight Tony Awards and a record-breaking 11 Laurence Olivier Award nominations, this feel good favorite returns to Royal Caribbean in a brand new, bigger-than-ever production. Break out your bobby socks, because Tracy Turnblad won't stop until she gets her shot at dancing on The Corny Collins Show. But TV stardom is just the beginning. Hairspray is back, and you can't stop the beat!" Thoughts: Excellent production - comparable quality to land based show. Not sure exactly what was cut from full length Broadway show since we haven’t seen it in quite some time. Long by cruise ship production show standards at 90 min. Dining Breakfast - Park Café (blueberry yogurt parfait & egg/cheese/peppers burrito) Lunch - On shore Dinner/Dessert - MDR (A Taste of Mexico) - We had not done this menu on Wonder. For starters, I had the roasted poblano pepper soup and Scott had the tortilla soup. For entrée, I had the pulled pork enchilada (which was more like a burrito) and Scott had the carne asada. For dessert, I had the caramel flan and Scott had the tres leches. Day 3 - At Sea Activities Attended Crown & Anchor Society Top Tier party which was held in AquaTheater (on Wonder it was in Studio B). Loyalty society stats: 1404 Gold, 450 Platinum, 220 Emerald, 404 Diamond, 370 Diamond Plus, and 92 Pinnacle. Top cruiser had 3437 points with 20 years of sailing. Because of our Elite status with Celebrity, we qualified for Diamond status - and hence why we got invited to this party. Did a little reading time in the Solarium. Much more comfortable temperature wise than what we experienced on Wonder. Symphony’s adult-only area is open to the elements with some wind breakers, while Wonder’s is fully enclosed and climate controlled. Likely difference between sailing in Feb vs June in Caribbean that Wonder’s A/C didn’t keep up. Played Royal Bingo - 3 games. Not a winner. Prize amounts were again quite generous: Game 1: $707, Game 2: $876, Game 3: $1244. Entertainment Saw the adult comedy show with Danny Bevins & Kirk Smith in The Attic. Both comedians were just OK - the ones we saw on Wonder were better. Dining Breakfast - Park Café (egg/cheese/spinach burrito and pineapple spears) Lunch - Hooked specialty lunch - For starters, we shared the coconut shrimp, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and crispy calamari. For entrée, I had the Maine lobster roll and Scott had the messy fish sandwich and we shared a side of lobster mac & cheese. For dessert, we split the coconut cream pie. I also had the Saint Peter’s Spritzer (Hooked signature cocktail). Madelyne from Ecuador was our server and she was wonderful. Steal of a lunch for $15pp (booked during Black Friday sale). Snacks - Pizza from Sorrento’s (Carnivore) Dinner/Dessert - MDR (A Taste of France; 1st Formal Night) - We had not done this menu on Wonder. For starters, I had the crispy calamari and Scott had the escargots. For entrée, I wasn’t all that hungry so I opted to do Caesar salad and French Onion soup while Scott got the beef bourguignon. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée and Scott had the toasted almond crème puffs. Day 4 - St. Thomas 12:30-8pm Activities Did 45 min walk around jogging track. We opted to stay onboard. Enjoyed pool, hot tub, and reading time in Solarium which was delightfully empty after people could go ashore. Entertainment Listened to guitarist Maryna Zhuravlova in Central Park. Saw ice skating show 1977 which is exclusive to Symphony. Description: "Join the time-traveling hero Tempus on a new adventure in 1977. After visiting Paris on Harmony of the Seas in 1887, his latest journey brings him to Symphony of the Seas - and to London, England.” Thoughts: We liked the show very much. Groovy tunes, nice Royal themed costumes, and some impressive creative skills (like hula hooping). Wonder’s 365 ice show is a more beautiful aesthetic show but 1977 is higher energy. Dining Breakfast - Solarium Bistro Lunch - El Loco Fresh (chicken taco, nachos with pulled pork and beef carnitas) Snacks - Sprinkles soft serve Dinner/Dessert - MDR (A Taste of Italy) - We had not done this menu on Wonder. For starters, I had the beef carpaccio and Scott had the Italian Minestrone soup. For entrée, we both had the Lasagna Al Forno. For dessert, I had the Italian chocolate-hazelnut cake (similar to a lava cake) and Scott had the lemon curd tartlet. Day 5 - St. Maarten 8am-6pm Activities Got off the ship around 8:45am. Went to the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit attraction. Cost $20pp to view Nick Maley’s private collection of artifacts from Star Wars and other movies he worked on. Able to chat with him and get a selfie. Been on our list to do for a while and glad we got the opportunity this visit. Lunch at Chesterfield’s Waterfront Restaurant & Bar (recommended to us by a friend). We had conch fritters as a starter. I had the mixed seafood wrap and Scott had the grilled grouper catch of the day. Returned to the ship around 2:00pm. I spent more time in the Solarium which was definitely more crowded than yesterday in the pool itself - still plenty of lounge chairs to be had. Scott hung out on our balcony. Entertainment Listened to Hairspray conductor play Broadway tunes in Central Park. Dining Breakfast - Park Café (bagel bar) Lunch - On shore Dinner/Dessert - Chops Grille specialty dinner - For starters, we had the colossal shrimp cocktail, grilled black pepper bacon, and charred beef carpaccio. For entrée, I had the petite filet and Scott had the bone-in ribeye. For sides, we had the Gruyère cheese tater tots, creamed spinach, and Yukon gold mashed potatoes. For dessert, I had the red velvet cake and Scott had strawberry ice cream. Overall food and service was good but I think I'd give Princess' Crown Grill the nod for best ship steakhouse. I had different expectations regarding the bacon - I was expecting crispy glazed with black peppercorns vs the pork belly it actually was. Day 6 - At Sea Activities Did some morning & afternoon reading in Crown Lounge. Due to the number of Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle members on this cruise, the nighttime happy hour in the Crown Lounge was restricted to only Diamond Plus & Pinnacle. So daytime was our only opportunity to enjoy the Crown Lounge. Entertainment Saw Flight: Dare to Dream production show. Description: "Take off on a spectacular journey through time chronicling aviation milestones in Flight, a Royal Caribbean Productions original that's unlike anything you've ever seen. Your adventure begins in the distant future, as the audience boards the Lunar: Us for the launch of the world's first aerospace cruiser on its maiden voyage to Mars. And it ends with a stunning dramatization of the Wright Brothers' monumental first flight at Kitty Hawk. Buckle up for an awe-inspiring - and uplifting - first on both land and sea." Thoughts: Overall a good original production show. The Elon Musk/Space X video montage is cringeworthy right now but thankfully it’s a very short bit. In Memoriam segment was surprisingly moving. The finale is quite spectacular. Dining Breakfast - Crown Lounge Lunch - Jamie's Italian specialty lunch - For starters, we got the ultimate garlic buns and the truffle arancini. For entrée, I had the penne vodka arrabbiata and Scott had the tagliatelle bolognese. For dessert, I had the salted caramel gelato with praline and caramelized popcorn and Scott had the Amalfi lemon cheesecake. We both had the elderflower spritz cocktail. Liliia (Ukraine) was our server. Excellent food and service. Another steal of a lunch for $15pp (booked during Black Friday sale). Dinner/Dessert - MDR (The Royal Night, 2nd Formal Night) - For starters, I had the shrimp cocktail and Scott had the Vidalia onion tart. For entrée, we both had the lobster tail. For dessert, I had the baked Alaska and Scott had the strawberry shortcake. Day 7 - At Sea Activities Did most of the dreaded packing in the morning. I spent some final reading time in the Solarium. Went to the Radio Ronin private party in Dazzles. Entertainment Saw AquaTheater show HiRO which is exclusive to Symphony. Description: "The Royal Caribbean AquaTheater spectacular, HiRO, amazes with more high-flying feats, unexpected stunts, and extraordinary acrobatics than any aqua show before. Brought to life by the world's best extreme-sport athletes, HiRO pushes the limits of a theatrical production at sea with cutting edge technology, future-forward choreography and highly innovative physicality. No two shows are ever exactly the same, and anything can happen!” Thoughts: Finally got to see this on the last night - our original Day 1 reservation was moved to Day 5 which was cancelled due to high seas and moved to Day 7. Another not to be missed Aqua show! As with Wonder’s InTENse, TRON music is included. Japanese choreography was very cool. Dining Breakfast - Windjammer Marketplace Lunch - Boardwalk Dog House (bratwurst ) and El Loco Fresh (cheese quesadilla and beef carnitas nachos) Snacks - Pizza from Sorrento’s (Caribbean Dream flavor of the day) Dinner - Windjammer Marketplace Day 8 - Miami Disembarkation Due to a medical emergency, we accelerated our arrival into Miami by 9pm the day before. So we spent the night before disembarkation in port which was a first for us and very weird. We left the cabin at 7:15am (required to leave by 8am). Had breakfast in Park Café. Our 8:20am disembark group (41) was called at 8:15am. We debarked and were through customs by 8:30am. Our group bus took us to MIA and we said our farewells. Then we took Tri-Rail back to Ft. Lauderdale for our post-cruise stay as we opted to stay an extra night before flying home since today was the Super Bowl. Service As with our Wonder cruise, we enjoyed good to outstanding service on this cruise. Our cabin steward was good. Our servers in Hooked and Jamie's Italian were superlative, and our serving team (Gede/Zola) in the MDR was very good. Tips & Tricks - Bring your own shampoo & conditioner - all cabins except for Suites only get a combo body wash/hair product. - If you get chilly easily, bring a sweater to Studio B for the ice show. - Coke Freestyle machine locations are indicated in the app deck plans: Windjammer, El Loco Fresh, Sorrento’s, Park Café. The machine in Park Café is a bit of a hidden location, tucked around a corner so I'm not sure many people are aware that it's there. Final Thoughts - While we will always enjoy a traditional ocean facing balcony, we really liked the Central Park interior balcony. It was very pleasing to look at the beautiful landscaping and listen to live music from our balcony. You could also hang clothes to dry on your chairs without worrying about things flying off. - We got excellent value for the Coco Beach Club Day Pass with the included amenities, elevated food, and chill atmosphere. Would definitely do it again especially if we scored another great sale. - Our service and food quality experience was pretty similar to what we enjoyed on Wonder. - Now that we've sailed two Oasis class ships, we'd look to do something different for our next RC cruise. We still want to try an Icon class ship once the pricing comes down from stratospheric levels. We also have our eye on sailing either Mariner or Navigator as those two ships have a legitimate tiki bar (Bamboo Room).
Symphony of the Sea is the fourth ship in the Oasis Class. My husband and I have been on the previous three, and Symphony is no different. we had an owner's suite which was spacious and gave us priority boarding. But , most important was access to the Coastal Kitchen, The ship was fullly booked, and the upper desks were crowded especially with children. The offerings in the Coastal Kitchen are top notch, and not having to go the Windjammer or the Main dining was wonderful. The only things that are different are the abandonment of the dress code of either 'smart casual'' or 'formal'. Most nights, we saw patrons dining in what clothes in which they would throw out their trash. (flipflops and shorts on formal night!) The shows are still Broadway caliber ( Hairspray was well produced, even though I did not care for the music). The ice show, Aqua Theater and the production show,Flight" were awesome. Central Park used to have instrumentals performed by a sololist, but now It is a four piece band and vocalist. I liked the old way. My husband's complaint was not having chocolates on the pillow at night, instead we got small "gift bag" items.
