My Wife and I plus a couple of good friends sailed on Freedom out of Fort Lauderdale. We are Diamond Plus members and have sailed on Freedom once before. We were looking for a short cruise before the Holidays and enjoy the Freedom class size. We always fly down the night before so we are well rested and not have to worry about a cancelled or delayed flight if we fly the day of the cruise. Boarding the ship was smooth and easy and we were on the ship within 20 minutes of arrival at the port. We schedule lunch at Giovanni's instead of fighting the rush at the Windjammer. Outstanding service and meal. Room was a Promenade room on floor 6 which is a great location. Clean room and plenty of space for clothes. Our room attendant was good, not great but he was very pleasant. Food in the Winjammer was good for breakfast and lunch. Especially enjoyed the made to order omelets in the morning. Again the staff was friendly and helpful. We always enjoy the MDR at the end of the day to talk and relax with out friends. Our waiters were excellent, the best we have ever had on over 25 cruises. Barton, Bon and Head Waiter Peter could not do enough for us every meal. Food was very good except for Mexican night which I did not care for. Spent a lot of time at the Champagne Lounge on deck 5. Our bartender Kendrick and especially Heidi were the best. Handled a very busy bar with a smile and were very gracious to the customers. Cannot say enough good things about Heidi. Entertainment was top notch in all areas, especially enjoyed the ice show and the veterans salute in the promenade. We did not leave the ship as we had already been to the ports we stopped at. We enjoyed having the pool deck to ourselves with a handful of other cruisers. Overall our cruise experience was very good and especially remember not everything will be perfect, just stay patient and enjoy what the ship and it's outstanding staff provide for you.
Staff- absolutely incredible. They are the difference maker! Dining- we prefer MDR and WJ for our dining experience. We like the themed dining menus per night. The specialty restaurants are nice but we're not subscribing to them. The food is nearly the same throughout the dining locations. Activities- your cruise director has a big impact on this and ours, Eric, was phenomenal! He was engaging, funny, energetic, and hyped up the passengers. Stateroom- we were in the panoramic ocean view suite on deck 12 (there are only 2 of these) and we absolutely loved the room. Incredibly spacious plus the suite perks. The room is ridiculously large with 1 full bath and an 1/2 bath. There was a bunk room also. The room itself has an insane amount of storage. Ship- we love this class of ship because it is large enough to have all the great activity locations, spacious and entertaining.
Freedom is wonderful in every way. The staff is good, the activities are good for everyone, the casino is fun, the entertainment good. It would have been more enjoyable if young people had not run wild on the ship. I saw them knock a couple over while playing tag on the elevators. T hey lifted floor plates in the elevator and would just drop them and leave. A group of 8-10 would be sitting on the floor of the elevator when it showed up. Disgusting! Perhaps more security on sailings over holidays/breaks? Getting on/off the ship was a breeze. Staff all around were great. Food was great too. I used both the suite and Crown Lounges and preferred the staff and most clientele in the Crown Lounge. Loved the Mexican restaurant poolside and the ines went fast. Everything was wonderful in Chops too, as I would expect. All in all a very good cruise,
