We totally enjoyed this ship. Embarkation was flawless at Port Canaveral and we were eating lunch within 15 minutes of boarding. We had lunch at the Solarium after trying to go to Windjammer. Solarium was so much quieter and a much better place to be on this first day. We had an Ocean view veranda and loved it. The bathroom was more than big enough with great water pressure in space capsule like shower. The TV was mounted on the wall at the foot of the bed. We exchanged our pillows for feather ones because the others were just too hard. The bed was very comfortable. We never heard a sound for the entire four days. Nassau was a good stop and was very safe. This port has been extensively remodeled. Coco Cay was the second stop. There is no need to pay extra to sit on a beach here. There were plenty of chairs and the lunch was excellent on South Beach. They run trams through out the island unless you would like to walk The main stage show was excellent on the first night. We ate at 150 Central which we highly recommend. We also ate at Chops Grille, it was okay but would not eat there again. The main dining room food was fine and we do not see the need to spend the extra money in the specialty restaurants. We ate breakfast each day in the Solarium. The food was hot and well prepared. There is inside and outside seating. We walked off for debarkation and this is definitely the way to go. There were no lines and no waiting. This was an excellent four day cruise and we highly recommend it.
This was our first time on an Oasis class ship and it was very impressive. Cabin - we stayed in an oceanview balcony cabin and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of space and the decently sized balcony. As someone who is 6'4", I am always worried about the size of the shower but it had plenty of room. The only slight issue was with the side table and the amount of room right next to the bed. It was pretty tight, but that is a minor complaint. Entertainment - The aqua show was 80s themed and one of the best aqua shows I have seen on an RC cruise., The ice show was good, but I thought it was just OK compared to other ice shows we have seen. The singers were a bit of a mixed bag, several of them were excellent, but the voices of some were lacking. One highlight was the jazz band playing in the park on deck 8. That singer's voice was magnificent and I really wish I knew about her prior to the last day. I had a MASSIVE problem with one of the comedians. The shorter, redneck looking comedian (cannot remember his name) made several inappropriate political comments and we walked out. Food - we had the unlimited dining package so ate almost exclusively at the specialty restaurants. Izumi for hibachi was excellent as always. Mason jar we tried for the first time and I very much enjoyed my hot chicken sandwich. I do need to call out the Royal Railway. If you have not tried this, I would highly encourage you to do so. The food is surprisingly good, the ambiance is incredible and it is a very fun performance. A very unique experience Embarkation/disembarkation - RC has really improved this over the years. I was a bit worried it might be significantly slower not being in a suite but they moved everyone through very quickly
Activities - I wrecked my toe before the cruise so I did not do many activities except trivia: BE early, they start on time! =) Service- Top notch. Willing to help in anyway if asked and observant enough to ask if needed. Cabin - Room was spotless and comfortable. My pillow was too fat and was replace that day with a smaller version. If you want to stay cool in Florida? Bring a small fan. 68 degrees on thermostat but ran 24 hrs. On lowest setting. Dining- 150 Central Park we had a 70th birthday. Accommodated a party of 13 without issue. Great food and service. Very attentive. Windjammer Café was good and available much of the day. Solarium Bistro is a hidden gem!! Loved the Lox and Bagels. Park Café “Kummelweck” roast beef sandwich was great and free, also egg sandwich. Café Promenade serves coffee, snacks, pastries, and sandwiches around the clock. Open 24 hours a day, it’s perfect for satisfying your late-night cravings. Room Service - great for breakfast Entertainment- Absolutely loved Mason Jar for Country Crew Trio! What a non-stop party. Every night we were there. Bryan, the band leader is moving on to Allure in May to Europe sailings. We plan on going on Allure in May to see him. A lovely gal was playing violin in Central park who was so good! It became a sing along. I like the band at the pool playing Reggae. We met Jaidyn Lenz from the All In stage show. She was an amazing aerialist! SO lovely and talented. Finally the Water show had such amazing divers. It was a bit unnerving with the feats they performed. Disembarkation - so easy and no crowding.
My wife and I booked this cruise only to check out the Utopia. I’m not one for large ships, but since it was a 4-day I was onboard (hahaha). My wife’s brother, Tony, and friend, Lynnette, joined us. It’s always better to have people; it’s more fun. Very impressed with the ship. Plenty of glitz and amenities, but not too much to reduce public space. Loved Central Park. Plenty of nooks and crannies to sit and relax and people-watch. The Royal Promenade was nice. Good balance of shops, eateries and bars. I thought the Boardwalk to be kind of an after thought by the designers. “We have this space remaining, so let’s put something here”. It wasn’t very long like the Promenade and Central Park, and mainly geared toward kids. The hot dog place was awesome. I love a good hotdog or brat. The adult comedy show was disappointing. Neither comedian was funny to us. Tony and Lynnette laughed the entire time. Ten+ drinks will do that to a person! The water show was great! Great choreography and acrobatics. I was curious to taste the food in the main dining room to see how the quality was. Big disappointment. There’s no doubt the cruise lines want passengers to shell out one hundred dollars and more to eat in the specialty restaurants. In the main dining room the first night I ordered a prime rib and my wife got a sirloin I believe. Her sirloin was practically paper thin and my prime rib was barely over a quarter inch thick. Really though? Absolutely terrible. This was the general theme for the main dining room the rest of the cruise. On the last night we opted to eat in 150 Central Park. I highly recommend this dining venue. I can’t say enough about our waiter as far as service and personality goes. Definitely 5-star! The Lobster Thermidor was excellent as were the steak medallions. Appetizers and deserts did not disappoint either. At seventy dollars a person I would expect no less. If you are planning to eat at a specialty restaurant, I would say do it on the last night of the cruise. I couldn’t imaging going from that back to the main dining room!! The solarium pool area was perfect. A little crowded, but manageable. Gotta try the negative edge Jacuzzi! as far as staterooms go, we booked a virtual balcony, which has a large flatscreen TV the size of a balcony door that shows real time. What’s outside your room! It’s worth the little extra money they charge because it does make the room look bigger, even though these inside state rooms are larger than the older ships. I recommend going on YouTube and doing a video tour of the Utopia to see more. overall, I was impressed with the ship, even though I’m not a big ship person. we probably won’t be sailing on the utopia again only because of the four day itinerary my wife and I prefer seven day and longer cruises. We’re satisfied we got to check it out and we’ll take away lots of new memories from that trip.
