Ship Reviews

Having taken a ten year break from cruising, I returned to Silversea knowing that the line was now under new ownership with Royal Caribbean. I was delighted to find the Silver Moon to be as excellent and enjoyable as I remembered. My Silver Suite on the top level of the ship was lovely and spacious with superb service from our butler and suite attendant. The many dining venues were consistently excellent with good quality ingredients, even for a long transatlantic crossing where fresh supplies are not available. The variety of lectures, activities and things to do onboard was extensive and I found that there was almost too much to do each day, the books I brought with me, went untouched! Fellow passengers make the cruise enjoyable--like minded travelers with just a hint of eccentricity! While Silversea would never be called in inexpensive cruise line--there is real value--with almost everything included in the fare. I look forward to returning to the line much more frequently!

First luxury-brand cruise for myself and 22 year old daughter as a 50th birthday treat. Great first impression, blown away moment, when embarking the ship and the new port of Fusina took 15 mins from getting out of our car to being on board and in The Grill. Excursions 5* Booked pretty late but managed to get on most tours. No queues, no full buses, small groups, well organised plenty of rest breaks. Butler service from Kennedy outstanding. Dis-embarkation day very poorly organised at breakfast gave up in the end asking for a coffee. Maybe self service drinks would be better on busy days? Favourite restaurant SALT and La Terrazza. La Dame food excellent, service not so. Couldn't get in the Silver Note for food but did call for a drink and sat at the bar, friendly barman. Ship felt empty plenty of sunbeds around pool area. Boutique great lots of designer brands, Chanel, etc. spent too much ! Show quality very good. Late night drinks and music at Panorama very good. Room service very good - had to wait and call twice for more water when daughter caught sunstroke when ordered on a staff changeover (butler going off shift and night butlers coming on shift). So good I have booked the same ship for January, but different itinerary, would request same suite to get same fantastic butler.

First time on Silversea and was impressed. So much so that we booked another for next year. This was a port intensive cruise and we were happy with the included excursions as well as the ship when we returned after a long day The food was very good especially La Terrazza - Italian. Ate outdoor and it felt like having dinner on a private yacht. Good variety of choices with enough changes through the week The Grill is fun at night. It is outdoors with most of the cooking done by the crew La Dame food was good but the service time was very long. 3 hours for dinner was too much. SALT was very good with locally inspire menus Atlantide was very good, but wasn't wild about the decor SALT bar was a charm. The bartender, Carlos, is a master of drinks. Small and cozy Butler service was great. Did everything for us including drawing a bath - pillow, candles, champagne and caviar. Cabin was large enough with good sized closet. Shower is little small for even average size folks. I would probably forgo the tub for a larger shower Service is excellent throughout the ship. always thinking ahead for you.

Our family of 4 cruised on a 10-night itinerary on Silver Moon in August from Rome to Barcelona. We only booked the cruise about 4 weeks before departure when our cruise on the maiden voyage of Explora II was cancelled due to the ship not being ready. We were very fortunate that Silversea was able to accommodate us, even though we had to make lots of airfare and pre and post itinerary changes since theis cruise went the opposite direction of our original booked cruise. Overall, I would say that our experience on Silver Moon was great. Our suites were an owner's suite for my wife and I, connected to a terrace suite for our 16 and 18 year old kids. The rooms were great and our butler and room attendant went above and beyond in every way possible. The extra bathroom in the owner's suite is really nice when we were all coming back to the rooms late at night or after long excursions. Our only room complaint is that the terraces are small, even the terrace for the owner's suite. The food was exceptional at all the venues, and I think we ate at them all. We are not picky eaters, but we travel and eat out frequently and have dined at many of the finest restaurants around the world. The food on Silver Moon did not disappoint. If I can point to one negative experience, the bartender at S.A.L.T. bar was absolutely rude to my wife, after we waited almost 20 minutes to order a drink. Her request was very simple - "surprise me with something popular and that you love to make", and he proceeded to berate her and tell her that it doesn't matter what he likes to make and he needs to know what she likes. He was extremely rude and unbelievably insulting in the process, so we stood up and left and never went back into the bar.   The ship was a good mix of adults in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, and we (particularly our kids!) were very pleased that there were a couple dozen other teenagers and young adults on the cruise. They quickly made friends and had people to hang out with every evening. I think they shut down the bars just about every night! The casino was fun, and the staff very engaging making for a couple of lively nights at the casino for my wife and I. The pool and outdoor areas were very crowded at times and it was difficult to find chairs in the shade, but the pool attendants did the best they could to help us. And food and beverage service at the pools was always well done. Excursions were well planned and fun experiences. At 2 ports we took private excursions arranged through Silversea, and those experiences were great. The only real negative was debarking. We were very rushed and ended up leaving a hat box with several hats in the suite, and somehow it was never located. We followed up multiple times with customer service after our cruise and never heard back from them - very frustrating for my wife. We would book Silversea again, but will likely try another cruise line or two (we are planning a cruise on Explora for Summer 2025) before booking again on Silversea.
