Ship Reviews

Seven Day Round Trip from Miami, 23 to 30 November. PROS: A "free" cruise fare for two on one of the newer Celebrity ships. CONS: 1. 600+ children onboard. 2. A Caribbean itinerary We are from Phoenix - southbound from Miami is not our 1st choice at any time of the year. Had this cruise not been offered to us at no cost we would not have taken it, so thank you Blue Chip Club. The ship was always clean, well maintained and a pleasure to experience and behold. DINING: Usually used the Oceanview on D 14 for breakfast and lunch. We did dine once in OV on an evening – nope – food was warm only and not as tasty. I enjoyed a real Thanksgiving meal in the OV 2 days after Thanksgiving. 4 MDR rooms to choose from, 2 on D3 and 2 on D4. Just show up and ask to be seated. Works fine if you get there early, which we did usually. Quality of food and selection varied – sometimes good sometimes not. The downside of this (to me) is you have a different waiter each night and different table – no chance of “training” this person so they know you and what you expect. Also felt no sense of a special tip as every night was a different face with different service. By dining early (5:30) we could catch the 7:30 show nightly. On Thanksgiving evening (which we really looked forward to with high expectations) we were served Turkey Roll and rice and had to ask for stuffing; this to me was not Thanksgiving. SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS: Did not utilize. Inquired about the steak option, Fine Cut, was quoted $80 each + 20% tip – nope – felt this was too high unless a special occasion. The OV did become very crowded especially on sea days and tables were hard to find at times. In July we received this offer from Celebrity.. immediately upon receipt of the offer I called and booked..Of course the downside to all this was the requirement to get from Phoenix to South Florida over Thanksgiving by air. What was available was scraps at a high price but using frequent flyer miles I found a tolerable itinerary, into FLL going and returning from Miami. The Sunday after Thanksgiving being a particular challenge. How could we say no to this - we could not. The Ship & our Cabin - 3700 passengers and it is a beauty. Our last cruise was on the same class ship, the Edge in late August of 2025. We expected a lot of similarity and there was. 17 decks, we wound up on Deck 9 forward all the way in an interior deluxe, small but nice and quiet for sleeping. Beds were comfortable, room temp very comfortable. The ship was well taken care of, very clean, operated on time, no complaints. NOTE: We found out once on board that we were running on 1 engine, the other one had gone down several months ago & was not scheduled for repair until summer 2026. This info did not come from the Captain or employees but from other cruisers. I read that impacted the speed at which we could go & it was necessary to adjust port stops & time there accordingly. From the cruiser standpoint you’d never know things were not 100% ok. Favorite Bar – the Eden Bar on Deck 5, quiet off the beaten track and good service from the same waiter. Fellow Passengers - we did find the cruise came with many young families who usually had small children in the 5 to 8 year age. Usually on the cruises we take the bulk of the passengers are 60 years and up with almost no children so this was quite a change. Most of the passengers were 50 years and younger and many many children. Was this due to this being the week of Thanksgiving or due to Celebrity doing "Children cruise for Free" promotions. In our 20+ cruises this was a new experience for us with this percentage of children onboard. Many of the kids were fine but it only takes a few to completely disrupt a peaceful dine or other experience. The screaming, crying, loud voices and running around unsupervised is not what we were expecting on this cruise line. Celebrity Changes Noticed since our last sailing in August On the entertainment in the theatre a heavy reliance on floor to ceiling videos; this to me takes away and distracts attention from the performers to the video affects. Sometimes it adds a positive effect it is not always negative. We had 2 production shows, a vocalist who performed twice and an illusionist, Elite happy hour from 5 to 7pm now comes with a list of qualifying drinks that are available for free. In the past almost any mixed drink could be ordered and would be provided - no longer. It does include water and soda as well which are not on the list. Room service now comes with a 9.95 fee, was this always the case? The one free bag of laundry and 90 minutes of free internet each remains unchanged. PORTS: 3 stops, 3 days in a row. St. Kitts, St. Thomas & the Dominican Republic (Puerto Plata) then a sea day and docking in Miami. TOURS: As we had never been to the Dominican Republic we chose a city highlight one. What was not mentioned was all the walking & steps involved. From the meet point to the bus loading area had to be nearly a mile thru a large shopping area. Approximately 25 riders on our bus first stop was the nearby mountain top. Many steps here and finally a bathroom, with steps, after a 40 min ride over a bad road with many potholes, also the AC was off for a short time due to the incline. Also our guide, Edward did a fine job but was very hard to understand due to a thick accent. The tour was to be 2 hours but was 4 and we were dropped at the parking lot so again a mile walk back to the ship access point. This is with 85 degrees and high humidity - we were sweaty and exhausted. Way too much for 2 76 year old seniors. We felt the tour description was not what we experienced. We should have stayed on the ship! THE 2ND TOUR: at departure in Miami, 4 hours with A drop at MIA airport. It was a city of Miami tour and was well done with guide Abel – very knowledgeable and easily understood with a sense of humor. Several planned stops were cut as the bus could not get out of the cruise port area (traffic) and we left 80 minutes late from the pier. AT THE PIER: ARRIVING & DEPARTING We were boarded at Terminal E of the Miami Port. Once we got near the traffic was stop and go with a crawl Took about 10 minutes to arrive in the UBER. Our 1 large bag was taken right away by a porter then to the building entrance on the side - waited about 30 minutes in line and then were allowed entry. We boarded the ship at 1115am. We had done the preboard things, had our boarding passes ready so it all went very smoothly and quickly. Once on board went right to our cabin, got our sea pass cards, dropped our bags and off to oceanview on 14 to lunch, which was uncrowded as we were in the first group to board. This all went very well. Compared to years ago this process is handled so much better & quicker. Disembarking on Sunday - we were warned that 10 ships would dock today in Miami. As we took a ship’s tour we exited the ship in one of the 1st groups, though it took almost an hour to get off and thru customs. After customs off to our bus Got boarded and then took 20 minutes to get out of the port area, gridlocked. THE SOUTH FLORIDA AIRPORTS: FLL – every time we go through FLL I slap myself for doing so. By having a late arriving flight the airport was fine but once you got out of the terminal it was over. Traffic accessing the Terminal was generally stopped We chose UBER and in the uber waiting area probably 200 people waiting for cabs but the cabs could not get to us. With a reservation we waited an hour before our cab arrived, then into the traffic and the gridlock No wonder the Florida people drive to the ports and avoid the airport. . MIA – the big airport – we flew out of MIA on the way back.- Sunday after Thanksgiving. No problem being dropped there upon concluding our tour. However we arrived at MIA 3 hours before we could check our bag so had to wait, unable to enter TSA before our bag was checked; the 4 hour rule – cannot check a bag earlier than 4 hours before flight depart time I did know this. SUMMARY: A good cruise over a major holiday, all went well, neither of us got ill afterwards (so far). Met many nice people from all over the country. Did book a 2027 cruise to snag the $200 deposit feature by booking on board. This is now the 3rd ship of this class for us (Apex, Edge and Beyond), all 3 have been a good experience

Beyond is a beautiful, well designed ship overall. We did Aqua Class; the room and Blu restaurant were close to perfect. The room showed very little wear and tear. The bathroom was kept very clean; particularly the shower area. The daily servicing (morning/evening) was efficient and attentive. The main meals and service in Blu were excellent; many equaled specialty restaurant quality. You can also order from the other complimentary restaurants as well. The desserts, however, were basic. Many of the shows in the main theater were near Vegas-like in quality and showmanship. The investment in the multi-media stage is very impressive and intricately integrated into each and every show. A few shortcomings: This was a Thanksgiving Day cruise and it was full of kids; some unruly (running up and down the stairs) but generally well behaved. We were looking forward to using the Pickleball court, but it was woefully inadequate compared to the courts on Holland America's Pinnacle class ships. If you're a serious player, don't even bother packing your paddles. The shore excursion to Buck Island was extremely disappointing. It left late and missed a snorkeling spot; so it went to a public beach as an alternative where there were jet skis in the area. Most excursion had multiple guides (transportation, venue, driver, etc.) each expecting a gratuity which came across as nickle-and-diming. An excursion to Damajagua Waterfalls required an unexpected, outrageous $10 locker rental, We've already booked the same cruise for the 2026 season.

A most pleasant week aboard Celebrity Beyond. This was our 30+ cruise. We were in a Celebrity Suite receiving the benefits of The Retreat. The room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a two sink 2 room bathroom. Our butler and room attendant were both excellent and quickly learned our preferences. Only complaint was the couch inside and the one on the balcony were a little thin and limited comfort. We ate most of our meals in Luminae. Loved the fact that after your first seating you would sit in the same area for each meal in order to have the same server who also quickly learned your preferences. Food was of high quality although I found some of the preparations to not be of interest to me. I managed to enjoy every meal. The theater is great and state of the art technology. Shows were good to very good, enhanced by the use of the digital theater. Particularly enjoyed the show performed in Eden. As to the specialty restaurants Eden was our favorite, we had a front row seat to the "live" kitchen, food was delicious. Steakhouse was very good as was Sushi on 5. My only complaint was that even at the retreat pool people were reserving seats with books and towels early in the morning, so that even at 9am quality seats were hard to come by. Overall a great getaway week.

This is our 38th cruise and our first on an Edge class Celebrity ship. We ve been on both the Solstice and Millennium class Celebrity ships, Princess (Elite status), NCL, Royal Caribbean, Oceania, Regent Seven Seas, and MSC (Diamond loyalty level). So we are experienced cruisers. However, when I stepped on board the Beyond, I took one look, turned to my husband, and said I never want to leave... and I had never said that before. So the next day, a sea day on this Caribbean cruise, I went to the Future Cruise desk and asked if any cabins were available on the following cruise which happened to be during Thanksgiving week. One cabin was left and we are on that cruise as I write this review. This is an absolutely gorgeous, elegant incredible ship for so many reasons. The Oceanview Cafe buffet has the most choices and the best food of any cruise buffet we've been to. The staff is always restocking every carousal, there is never an empty tray, and used plates are always immediately removed. Our room steward cleaned our room twice a day and it was always immaculate. The entertainment was extraordinary and of Broadway and Las Vegas quality. We were allowed to take videos during the performances and I wish I could include some of the acts here! The actual decor and artwork and sculpture pieces never failed to blow me away. The Eden area was like nothing I've seen on any ship and absolutely beautiful. Finally, this ship exceeded our expectations in very way and has spoiled us for the future.

We sail Celebrity often, always finding great amenities and good value. The Captain's Club loyalty program is superior and every ship in the fleet works hard to be sure you enjoy those perks, it's not just words on paper. Now our loyalty status carries over to other Royal Caribbean cruise lines! Amazing! Our most recent cruise on the Celebrity Beyond had everything that makes Celebrity great. Dinner in main dining was memorable every night (for being GREAT), the service outstanding, and the LIVE entertainment exceeded our imagination. Even Hurricane Melissa didn't even phase the ship's crew in delivering an expedient, smooth, safe and enjoyable cruise! They diverted us from Eastern Caribbean to Western Caribbean the day before the cruise and still managed to provide a great experience. If you asked why we keep going back to Celebrity, in addition to all the reasons given, it's because when we get onboard it feels like home.

Children will love building gingerbread houses, singing along with carollers, and enjoying a visit from Santa, who always makes a special appearance bearing gifts.
