The Rotterdam did not disappoint. Our first experience with HAL and I enjoyed it. I had a great time at all of the music venues. BB Kings, Billboard and Rolling Stone lounges are all on level 2 so convenient to go between them. I was pleased with my Have It All package and dined at Pinnacle and the Italian restaurant. The only downside was our cruise was advertised as 14 day but technically it was a back to back. I’d never done a BTB before and the entire dining room menu repeated the menu the second week. Then the bands repeated their shows the second week. That made it a bit boring on the second half of trip. HAL is an older crowd but met some great people on board. A few families with children. Buffet had some great options but I usually ate in the dining room but grabbed an extra dessert later! Room service breakfast started each day with an on time delivery and friendly delivery staff. Their embarkations and disembarkation were so easy. Best I’ve seen. I will travel on the Rotterdam again.
We had a lovely cruise! It was our first time sailing Holland America and we thought this was one of the best laid-out staterooms we have ever had. We were in an ocean view stateroom; after unpacking completely for the week, we had 4 unused drawers! The only drawback was my suitcase wouldn't fit under the bed (Dimensions: 29"x17.5"x13" and 10.8 lbs.). But it fit in the closet with no issues. And the loaner umbrella was a nice touch. The food was good, but is what brought the rating down to a 4 for us. We found food temperature to be inconsistent in the buffet (my chicken cordon bleu was cooked through, but just slightly over lukewarm), and they were not prepared for the response for tea on the first sea day. While I appreciate everyone doing what they could so everyone could attend, the tea tray only included on of each offering - but was provided to serve two people. We enjoyed most of the specialty restaurants: Tamarind was amazing! The food and service for the Italian restaurant were amazing - but were marred by the setting. It's located in the entrance to the buffet and does not have solid walls protecting it sound-wise. (While it was wonderful to see how friendly the crew and passengers were - the noise diminished the ambiance of the upcharge restaurant.) The itinerary was great - loved Invergordon and Isafjordur especially.

Holland America Line's youth activities program, Kids Club, offers an array of entertaining events for kids and teens ages 3-17, supervised by a full-time, professionally trained staff. They'll have an opportunity to join other kids their age for arts and crafts, sports, video game competitions, scavenger hunts, challenging team games and themed parties.
Note: Kids Club is not offered on cruises of 25-days or longer, including all Legendary and Grand Voyages. We will offer a selection of children’s activities throughout these longer voyages for any children who may be onboard.
Safety Comes First
Safety is our primary concern and strict policies are in place for effective supervision. Adult guests are not permitted to remain in Kids Club unless attending to a special-needs child.
