Ship Reviews

The boat is great. The rooms were very nice. The service was impeccable. The food and drinks were great. The entertainment was a bit lame - Disco Night??? Maybe more educational presentations. We went to one on wind and olive oil which was very interesting. Some of the port stops were not great. We did not like the Crete port stop too much. Probably not the Ritz's fault, but when wake up in the morning and open your shades in Crete, you are staring and a very unattractive industrial area. We were quite disappointed in some of the excursions. I am not sure Ritz personnel have ever taken some of the excursions that are offered. I think if they did, they would adjust the excursions. We also felt the descriptions of the excursions were so brief, you could not really get a sense of what the excursion really was. I guess my advice is to either wing it when you get to a port and hire a guide right on the spot or pre-book through Viator, TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide or ToursByLocals.

What a magical experience. Honestly one of the best travel moments ever ever had. Our group of 8, 30-40 year olds had an absolute blast. I have no doubt the first journeys encountered issues. After reading reviews here, I was quite anxious on whether this would be worth it. Having now sailed, my only regret is not doing a longer journey or having a second lined up. While things go wrong on trips, I'm completely convinced the negativity is due to people who just need to find something to complain about. Here's why you might love it: The boat is immaculate and the pictures do little justice. The rooms rival any Ritz Carlton on land, and the common areas (from the bathrooms, to the Living Room, to the Pools) are always in stellar condition. It even has a special balancer to prevent it The staff is unparalleled in luxury travel. These people genuinely try everything to make you happy and work incredibly hard doing it. On the second day, everyone knew my party by name. The mini bar was adjusted without asking to match what we liked. The Living Bar staff are sheer gems. At every port, they make tents with chairs, water bottles and cold towels to greet you on return. No other ship did this. The food vastly exceeded my expectations. For context, I did not expect anything to be Michelin Star level, not did I expect it to be an average Ritz level (which varies wildly). The menus changed throughout the days, which kept it exciting. Nearly every meal was top notch. The Erivma Room is quite lovely in the evenings. Our daily lunch spot was the Pool House, which proved to be quite the gem (spirit fwd drinks, fantastic chicken sandwich and fun apps). They also have rotating specials to match the port you are in. I didn't want anything like a cruise, including the entertainment, and this delivered. While there are no shows, etc, the entertainment team put together multiple, fantastic experiences. In Mykonos, we had the island's most renown olive oil expert come aboard and do tastings. The bar team did cocktail classes. There were champagne tastings. Comedy nights. Stargazing. And the singers were just phenomenal. You'd have to try very hard to be bored. I can honestly say 97% of the journey was perfect from start to finish. Here's the 3% I didn't like, none of which would change my giving the trip 5 stars and booking again. The comedy night. Huge let down, and the comedian knew it. The shower door occasionally leaks water out. The ship crew claims this is because the ship can lean slightly. It's definitely just a design flaw, and in curious if the newer ships have fixed it. However, this only happened on occasion and it was fine. That's honestly it! One more thing. People have been claiming the ship is not owned by the Ritz Carlton. That is correct. It's a strategic partnership with a company who specializes in captaining luxury cruises. The design, staff, service and style is distinctively Ritz. I am assuming the management team at Ritz Carlton knows nothing about yatching, so they did the right thing and partnered. Most Ritz Carltons are franchises anyway, so all the people freaking out should just chill out.
