We approached cruising with a fair amount of skepticism. We have always preferred active travel, changing locations frequently, and exploring destinations independently. That is exactly why we decided to experience Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection for ourselves. The 7-night voyage from Civitavecchia to Piraeus turned out to be one of the best-organized and most refined travel experiences we have ever had. From the moment we stepped on board, the attention to detail was evident. The service was exceptional, and the crew handled even the most unusual requests effortlessly. The culinary experience was equally impressive. Throughout the entire voyage, we did not encounter a single average meal. Four restaurants, regularly changing menus, and consistently outstanding quality at every meal. The ultra all-inclusive concept covered restaurants, champagne, wines, premium beverages, and 24-hour service. The only additional charges were for shore excursions, spa treatments, and the most exclusive spirits and wines. Another pleasant surprise was the comfort at sea. My wife is very sensitive to motion on smaller vessels, so we started the trip with some concerns. Even in rougher conditions, however, the ship’s movement was barely noticeable. I rarely post personal recommendations on social media, but this time I am making an exception. This was our first voyage with Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. And most likely not our last.
Firstly i would like to send my best regards to the GM and the Captain of the MS Ilma, Together with my husband Marek and another couple, we enjoyed immensely the journey from Civitavecchia to Athens lat May. The F&B was of outstanding quality, the service was natural, helpful and funny, the evening entertainment was superb and the facilities were also top-notch standards. Regarding the restaurants we liked the most, Japanese Memori and Tides - both for dinner. When it came to lunch we were always undecided and tried a bit of all options, including the Beach House and the rooftop one. Regarding the entertainment aboard, we really liked the famous DJ Kelly! It was so nice to be able to dance amost every single evening. The live ILMA band was also fantastic. Regarding the service we really liked a young lady from Kenia named Naomi, the ship's concierge Michal and many others, just too hard to remember names :-) Thank You all for making this trip so memorable. Our suite was well sized and had the most comfortable bed in the universe. When it comes to the fellow passengers i think it was a great mix of middle aged people, some younger and some older. regarding excursions- as we are from Europe (Polish) and have visited Amalfi many times and Greece, we preferred to stay aboard instead of organising shore excursions. However, we managed to see Chania and visited Santorini and Milos briefly. The rooftop swimming pool on deck 10 was my favourite place! So was the swimming floating platform at the back of ILMA. Some tips: Clothing is more casual than I thought it would be. It has a vibe of a posh beach club, but all day long. However, people respect the rules and always wear appropriate attire. I hope one day we can come back and repeat the cruise, maybe Alaska, maybe Oceania?
