If you looking for a cruise to see glaciers, check the itinerary carefully and don't assume that all Alaska cruises go to glaciers because this cruise did not. There may be weather, floating ice or landslide concerns that prevent travel down channels. It was explained to us that this cruise was too early in the season. I thought that this was odd because we had been on a Holland America cruise one week earlier in 2024 and went to glaciers. Anthem is a nice sized ship and in very good condition. Our cabin steward Eugene was outstanding. You can get a paper copy of the Cruise Compass daily by asking your cabin steward. The Royal app says that you can request it but you can't. Distilled water for CPAP machines can also be requested at no charge along with an extension cord if needed. Music venues were a strength of this cruise with Laurence Murray in the Brass & Bock Pub and Iconic Live in the Music Hall. Ronn Lucas, who I hadn't seen in a long time, did a great headliner ventriloquist show in Theater. On the downside, Spectra's Cabaret and We Will Rock You need to be retired. Also Two70 is a terrible venue with limited seating and very poor sight lines. If you want to see something there go 30 minutes early. Food was generally good in the main dining room although we only went there a couple of times for dinner. Breakfast was also good in the dining room and avoids the crowds and lack of tables in the Windjammer. Breakfast in Cafe Two70 is not good and hot food comes out of the microwave. The Solarium Bistro is very good until the crowds discover it. Royal has a very poor selection of liquor in their bars and no discount for double pours like Carnival. Margaritas were the happy hour drink every day at $6.50 between 4 and 6 pm. Drink of the day was $8.50 and not so good. Downtown Sitka is a long way from the port and the lines for the shuttle buses were huge! Shops at the port are pretty good. We did the Science in Sitka with a Taste of Alaska excursion. Science refers to a VERY small aquarium with a salmon hatchery program. Highlight was the restaurant next door. Skagway can't handle 4 ships at one time. Too many people. Juneau was good as we have been there many time before. Anthem at the closest berth to town and pretty convenient for walking. Victoria had the best weather of the cruise except for embarkation day in Seattle. Shuttle to downtown is $15 and worked great.
