Ship Reviews

Vision of the Seas is a small but fun ship! Leaving from Baltimore was so easy. We were on ship by 10:30. Very efficient! We stayed on the 2nd floor with an inside cabin. Great storage but the king bed was hard to walk around. We ended up having our state room attendant separate them. Everything we packed was put away. Suitcases under the beds helped too. The fitness center was crowded in the beginning of the cruise. Not many treadmills but I was able to walk and do some weights. Then less people came to the gym later in the week! The ship has an old fashioned classic feel. Lots of woodwork and rich upholstery. Lounges and theatre were very comfy. Dinner and buffet food, I feel had better quality than the big ships. I could be crazy but I thought the chocolate desserts had more flavor! Bars, everyone was friendly and hard working. I never had a bad drink! Bartenders knew us by the second day! Service in the dining and buffet were sometimes slow. But it was relaxing. Getting a drink or a refill took some time. The entertainment was great! The house band and orchestra were amazing. Rock Port played everything! The comedian was very funny! We had to skip a port because of weather. It was the Beach Club at Nassau. There's always next cruise! Be prepared, the casino is smoky! I would definitely bring Febreeze next time! We were apprehensive of a small ship and it was the week of Easter. Yes, there were 500 kids but we did not hang out in the same places. Yes, there were kids running around and hanging out. But it wasn't that bad. We always found pool deck chairs on the upper level. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. I read other reviews of how people come back just to see the crew. You could see the connections that people had made! I would definitely sail again on the Vision of the Seas!

We love cruising on the vision. The staff is so friendly and fun. The food is always top notch. And there is always something fun to do. The weather was kind of rainy and chilly. The best day we had was in Charleston (our favorite port). We ate at choppes for lunch our first day. Best steak ever. Love the food there. MDR was very good though not a fan of Mexican night (at at wind jammer) and Asian night. Otherwise food was great. Rockport is a great band to listen to every night. SHows not so good. WIndjammer excellent. Did the whiskey tasting and a waste of money there. The solarium is nice. love the hot tubs. Drinks at bars were good though the bartenders at the R bar made there's very strong. Too strong sometimes and hard to drink. But overall drinks were great. Cabin is nice. Have to remember an interior is not meant to be spacious though never felt cramped. Our attendant was great always kept it clean and got us what we needed. Love doing the Karaoke and rockaroke. Trivias always fun too. Always win a pen or highlighter lol There were 7 of us and every night our MDR made us feel so welcome. Very few complaints if really any.

As recent empty-nesters, my husband and I were looking for a cruise that would be an easy getaway to a warm destination. Since we live in northern VA, we chose Vision of the Seas for its proximity to home and its itinerary. The drive to Baltimore took a little over an hour, and we were able to park at the port and quickly board the ship - which certainly beats flying! We hope that Royal Caribbean will continue to offer sailings from Baltimore in the future as it is very convenient for travelers from the DC metro area. We booked a window cabin on Deck 3, which was small, but clean and comfortable with lots of built-in storage. Our cabin steward refreshed the cabin daily and kept us supplied with clean towels, ice, and toiletries. We enjoyed our meals on the ship, and ate most of our meals in the main dining room (with the exception of lunch in Izumi, Giovanni's Table, and Chops Grill which we arranged prior to sailing). Breakfast in the main dining room was very leisurely and it was usually quicker to get breakfast from the Windjammer buffet, which always had a good variety of items to choose from. The evening entertainment in the Masquerade Theater was quite good, and included comedian Drew Thomas, singer Mark Preston, a broadway themed production, the Love & Marriage game show, magician Bill Cook, a 70's dance production, and an Eagles tribute band called The Long Run that brought the audience to its feet. Other entertainment options included karaoke, movies, and talented lounge singers. Regarding ports-of-call, we arranged excursions on our own rather than through the ship. In Charleston, we did a walking tour with a local guide who provided a lot of insight into the history of the city. In Port Canaveral, we bought tickets to the Space Center through Costco and got a taxi for the 30-minute drive. In Miami, we booked a hop-on-hop off bus tour through Big Bus that also included a boat tour of celebrity homes. In Freeport, we arranged a private tour with a local guide who drove us around the island and showed us Grand Bahama Island beyond the tourist-centered areas. In summary, we enjoyed our time on Vision of the Seas. It lacks some amenities found on larger, newer ships but we like the size of the ship and the friendliness of the crew. We hope Royal Caribbean will continue to keep Vision of the Seas in Baltimore!

Traveling from Baltimore, my room was cold. The room warmed up as we traveled south; however, on the return end, again the room was freezing and maintenance did what they could to no avail. My other complaint are the additional service fees for onboard purchases. If you’re being charged automatically for gratuities, that should cover all services. If you buy popcorn, there’s a service fee. I don’t mind paying the gratuities, but I think it’s a bit much to charge the additional fees for services for purchases from the coffee Bistro. Ice cream, popcorn, room service etc. Otherwise, there’s crew did an amazing job. My cabin Stewart John. was amazing, and the buffet workers were awesome, funny and friendly. Shout out to FerJennifer, and the Sheriff. The ship entertainment could have been better, but the Motown show, was excellent. Although an older ship, it was still nice. I love the smaller ships.
