Ship Reviews

My husband and I recently returned from a Swan Hellenic Antarctica expedition on SH Minerva. The trip was amazing! The ship is beautiful and our balcony cabin included a realistic fireplace as well as bathrobes and slippers. The service throughout the ship was exceptional with a very attentive staff that catered to you every day. The food was first class with a great variety of cuisines and choices. Now for what we came to see! The expedition team was wonderful. They ensured our safety first and then brought us to see the beauty and wildlife of Antarctica close up. We saw so many penguins, Orcas, humpback whales and fin whales. The Weddell, fur, leopard and elephant seals were also located. Birds were too numerous to name here. The onboard lectures were very informative and prepared us for what we would be encountering. Gearing up for the twice daily expeditions was a bit of an effort at first, but got easier as we got to be familiar with life jackets, zippers and muck boots. The two games that the expedition team ran in the evenings were fun and engaging. The expedition team worked hard to make sure that they answered all questions and that everyone enjoyed their time on the White Continent. Our pre-cruise hotel in Buenos Aires, Casa Lucia, is a 5-star hotel on a quiet street. The staff are friendly and helpful. The transfers, included charter flights, and embarkation all went smoothly. Truly the trip of a life time!

Ship was small so meeting people was easy. Great food, shore excursions on the Zodiacs were phenomenal, wildlife was spectacular. The crew took very good care of us from lectures to the dining room to the bar. Excursion leaders were experts in getting us on and off the Zodiacs. The cruise people were there from start to finish, getting us to our hotel. Flight, bus. Pre cruise hotel was very nice, very quiet. Cabin was spacious, we had a balcony room. Easy to get anywhere on the ship. Not a cruise for kids, no kid friendly activities and shore excursions would be hard for very young kids to get in and out if Zodiacs. The ship store was very minimal a few shirts hair products. Internet was slow, a little faster if you purchased the upgrade. We were unfortunate to lise internet for a couple days due to equipment failure. So people had to talk to each other!

Not having cruised on an expedition ship before, I had no idea of what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the level of service provided by the very attentive staff, not to mention the beautiful ship itself! The expedition team did everything to make sure we were safe and able to take in the beauty of Antarctica. Our pre-cruise hotel in Buenos Aires, Casa Lucia, was a hidden gem on a quiet street in this bustling city. The transfers, included charter flights, and embarkation all went smoothly. The onboard lectures helped us understand the wildlife and ecology of Antarctica, and explained the steps that are being taken to preserve this natural wonder. Gearing up for the twice daily expeditions was a bit of an effort at first, but got easier once we learned a few tricks in the order that we should put items on. Bottom line though, it was all worth it!

From the moment we signed up till the last minute we were taken care off by SH team. Super friendly, super knowledgeble, super welcomed. Always helped and were there for you. Provided with necessary details in upcoming embarkations includint teaching classes about animals, temperature, and continent oveal. Service was on an excelent level: offered multiple dining options and always paid attention to the details. Service people remembered our names from the day one and during the trip knew what we like and the way we liked, constantly offered something thar we might like. Expedition team were taking care of us off the cruise ship, while embarkations were telling us alot of local stories about animals and sea types as well. Always stayed possitive and went above and beyond. Ship crew were super nice, no matter of the weather or what was going on they always were walking with a smile.
